I'm lolkknig to distribute the power load of the existing accessories and equipment and would like to add some more modern features. For both of those I'll need to add additional circuits, but I haven't done it on this boat before so I'm looking for some tips so that I don't screw something up

a few tips from me; you need to map the existing system, draw out your current wiring, noting wire gauges, fuse/breaker sizes, and loads. trust me, it helps.
also use the marine grade components. always use tinned marine grade wire, heat shrink connectors, and appropriate marine rated fuse blocks (like Blue Sea Systems) or circuit breaker panels
aand, always keep your boat's wiring diagrams/service manual next to you. trust me, you need it!

I think the most important thing is to plan it all out beforehand. It's best to figure out first exactly what new equipment you're adding and its power requirements so you can calculate the total load. Then, you'll need to choose the right size wire and fuse or circuit breaker for each new circuit to prevent overheating and potential fires. A marine-grade fuse block is a really clean way to add multiple new circuits and keep everything organized. Make sure you're using tinned copper wire, as it's much more resistant to corrosion in a marine environment. Also, always connect directly to the main battery switch or a dedicated bus bar, and keep your wire runs as short as possible.
 
Start by mapping out your current circuits and noting what each breaker feeds. When adding new circuits, use appropriately rated breakers and wire gauges, and consider a sub panel if you're running multiple new loads. Keep positive and negative wiring neat and labeled, and always disconnect the main power while working, trust me it saves a lot of headaches and keeps you safe.
