Yanmar rolled out their rope cutter for the SD60 Sail Drive back in July '23. T

they claim it's a game changer to avoid prop and bearing damage, cutting down on downtime, and generally making things safer by preventing tangles and potential loss of propulsion
We're curious if anyone out there has actually installed one of these, perhaps on a 508s or any other boat with the SD60?

What are your real world experiences with it? Does it live up to the hype?

I've been very interested in the Yanmar cutter since its release. Because being an OEM design, it avoids any potential galvanic issues with the saildrive. Its scissor-type disc is a different approach than the well known aftermarket spur-type cutters.

A friend of mine put one on his 508s while he was refitting it last fall. A few weeks later, he got caught up in a lobster pot line off Cape Cod, and the cutter went straight through without a hitch. He's been raving about it ever since, this isn't just some hype for him.
