Hanse 418 mods with my sister, bowsprit and furler

My sister and I are working on her Hanse 418 and planning to add a fixed bowsprit for a Code 0 and asymmetrical spinnaker combo. We're also looking into a below-deck furler. Any tips on clearance or install fit would be great to hear

A few things to note if you wanna go ahead with it, make sure the bowsprit doesn't interfere with the anchor or pulpit, and check the deck layout for a clean fit of the furler below deck coz owners say routing the furling lines neatly can be quite difficult, so plan your line runs ahead

My sister and I favored a fixed spirit primarily for the strength and simplicity of having the sail always ready for deployment. I was chatting with a friend who did a permanent install on his Hanse 418 a few years back, and he told me his biggest frustrations weren't with the sailing performance at all. Actually he said that part was fantastic! The biggest annoyance for him has been anchoring. He said the bowsprit and the furler sometimes get in the way of the anchor line, making deployment and retrieval a real pain unless he's super careful. It's definitely something to think through as you plan your setup. Good luck with that project!

My sister and I need to plan the anchoring issue for now. Did your friend ever develop a particular technique or find a piece of hardware like a special roller or guide that helps manage the anchor line? To help us understand the problem better, is the interference more with the anchor chain itself snagging on the equipment, or with the rope rode chafing on the bowsprit during retrieval?

We are committed to the fixed sprit project, so figuring out a good anchoring solution is our next major planning step.
